Police Arrest Private University Student in Jatinangor for Distributing Drugs
Sumedang - The Sumedang Police in West Java (Jabar) has uncovered a case of the circulation of methamphetamine involving a student in the Jatinangor Education Area, Sumedang Regency.
Head of the Sumedang Police Station AKBP Sandityo Mahardika in Sumedang, Monday, said that the suspect Helmi Alfahriza Nugraha (22) who is a final semester student at a private university was secured with 30.51 grams of methamphetamine.
"The suspect, who is one of the final semester students, was secured on January 27, 2026 in the Tanjungsari area with evidence weighing 30.51 grams of methamphetamine," he said, quoted by Antara.
Based on the results of the initial examination, the suspect admitted to obtaining methamphetamine from someone with the initials D, who is still under investigation.
He also explained that the suspect was ordered to distribute narcotics in the Jatinangor-Tanjungsari area with the target of students in the area.
"The suspect was ordered to distribute methamphetamine in the Jatinangor and Tanjungsari areas with the target of students," he said.
On that occasion, his party also explained that the suspect distributed drugs by means of a cash on delivery (COD) system or a direct meeting, as well as a method of sticking in a location that has been agreed with the buyer.
From these activities, the suspect admitted that he received a reward of Rp. 500 thousand every time he received or distributed methamphetamine, and got the narcotics to consume himself for free.
Currently, the suspect has been secured at the Sumedang Police to undergo further investigation with the threat of Article 609 paragraph (2) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 1 of 2026 concerning adjustments to criminal law and Article 114 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and or Article 610 paragraph (1) letter a of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 of 2026.
Meanwhile, the Sumedang Police Narcotics Unit also managed to total 30.61 grams of methamphetamine, 26.01 grams of synthetic, 554 pieces of psychotropic drugs, and 27,331 pieces of prohibited hard drugs in a total of 14 cases with a total of 15 suspects from operations carried out during January 2026.
