Jerinx Will Be Released Next Week, His Wife Nora Alexandra Receives Aid To Pay Fines

Public Relations of Our Alliance with Jerinx, Made Krisna Bokis Winata said the fund was a form of solidarity with Jerinx from his supporters in Bali. Funds are obtained from busking, charity concerts and merchandise sales. This Rp5,192,000 fund was given directly to Jerinx's wife, Nora Alexandra.

"Our (fundraising) was carried out in February. To participate in redeeming costs. This is as a form of solidarity to show that what Jerinx is saying, and what Jerinx is fighting for is the voice of the general public," said Bokis in Denpasar, Bali. , Tuesday, June 1st.

"So we are trying to raise funds. Especially, in terms of paying this subsidiary (fine) so that Jerinx feels not alone because Jerinx's struggle and voice is the voice of all of us," he added.

Meanwhile, Nora Alexandra while holding back her tears expressed her gratitude to all parties, including Jerinx's attorneys and her husband's supporters.

"This is really extraordinary to raise funds for the release. Really the support, from the alliance and the community is there for my husband and Jerinx is not alone, there are his friends and porters and also there are lawyers who always accompany," he said.

Jerinx's lawyer, I Wayan Gendo Suardana, said that Jerinx was sentenced to 10 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 million, subsidiary to one month in prison. This fundraiser is referred to as a form of support to Jerinx.

"And it was openly conveyed that the funds would pay a fine of Rp. 10 million. So this is not a problem of being unable to afford the Jerinx family, but the participation and solidarity of the community that we cannot deny," he said.

"They are one unit with Jerinx, and then for the rest we coordinate with Nora and her family for the rest of this fundraising to cover the amount of Rp 10 million. That, Nora and her family will complete half of it," he said.

His party immediately paid a fine of Rp. 10 million so that Jerinx could get out of prison.

"The rest for the administration of the release of Jerinx has been taken care of and is in the process," he explained.

It is possible that Jerinx will continue his lawyer's release on June 8th. However, certainty will only be obtained after coordinating with the prison.

"For certainty, the date has not been confirmed or (possibly) 10 months will fall on June 11, 2021 if the assimilation process or other repatriation processes including daily remissions can be obtained," he said.

"We are still coordinating, maybe we will rely on the statement from the Regional Office on June 8 (2021), Jerinx will be free as long as the fine is paid. So, the fine must be paid, the closest is June 8. But this situation could change. So, we will continue to wait and coordinate with the prison authorities," Gendo said.

In this case, I Gede Ary Astina alias Jerinx was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act intentionally and without rights in spreading information aimed at causing hatred or hostility to certain community groups, based on the intergroup principle.
