Progress is 98 percent, the Siak Bridge connects the Rengat-Pekanbaru Toll Road
JAKARTA - The construction of the Siak Bridge in the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) project, the Rengat-Pekanbaru section of the Pekanbaru Junction-Pekanbaru Bypass, is almost complete.
As of January 2026, the construction progress of the bridge crossing the Siak River has reached 98 percent.
PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK noted that overall the construction progress of the Pekanbaru Junction-Bypass Pekanbaru Toll Road had reached 71.07 percent, while land procurement was at 83.52 percent.
The Siak Bridge is one of the main structures on the section and plays an important role in strengthening the connectivity of the Pekanbaru region and its surroundings.
"Sungai Siak is known as one of the deepest rivers in Indonesia and has been a natural separator between a number of areas in Pekanbaru City and Kampar Regency. The presence of the Siak STA 193+560 Bridge is the fifth bridge connecting the area and strengthening the toll road network as the main distribution route," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah quoted from a written statement, Monday, February 9.
The Siak Bridge has a total length of 214.5 meters (m) with a main span of 97.5 m.
The infrastructure is designed to improve traffic flow, accelerate community mobility, and support the efficiency of the distribution of goods and services in the Pekanbaru area and its surroundings.
In terms of construction, the bridge uses a box girder structure with a balanced cantilever method using a form traveler. The main structure work has been completed in about six months.
The Rengat-Pekanbaru Toll Road Section Pekanbaru Junction-Bypass Pekanbaru will later be integrated with a number of other major toll roads.
The toll roads include the Pekanbaru-Rengat Toll Road, the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road, and the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang-XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road, which are part of the JTTS network.
"The existence of the Siak Bridge plays an important role in strengthening the integration of toll roads in Riau Province and supporting the smooth distribution of logistics," he said.
In addition to increasing connectivity between regions, the project is also expected to reduce traffic density on arterial roads and open access to industrial areas, trade and new economic growth centers around Pekanbaru.
All construction work was carried out with strict safety and quality standards and was successfully completed with zero accident achievement.
Until now, Hutama Karya has built JTTS along approximately 1,235 kilometers (km), both those that have been operational and those still in the construction phase.
A number of toll roads have been fully operational, including the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Toll Road, the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung Toll Road, the Palembang-Indralaya Toll Road, the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road, the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road (132 km), the Pekanbaru-XIII Koto Kampar Toll Road to the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road Section 2-6.
"In the future, the existence of this toll road is expected to further strengthen the role of JTTS as the backbone of land connectivity on the island of Sumatra as well as supporting regional economic growth in Riau Province," he added.
