DPR Holds Meeting with the Government to Discuss the Deactivation of BPJS PBI

JAKARTA - The DPR leadership together with the leadership of Commission VIII, Commission IX leadership, and Commission XI leadership held a Consultation Meeting with the government.

Government representatives who attended included Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of PPN/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudi, along with the Head of BPS and President Director of BPJS Kesehatan to discuss improvements to the ecosystem of the Integrated Health Social Security governance.

The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad together with Sari Yuliati and Saan Mustopa, was held in the meeting room of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Nusantara building, Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, February 9.

"Today, a consultation meeting is scheduled between the leadership of the DPR RI, the leadership of Commission VIII, the leadership of Commission IX and the leadership of Commission XI of the DPR RI with the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Social Affairs, the Minister of Health, the Minister of National Development Planning, and the heads and deputy heads of the BPS, as well as the Director of BPJS Health as a response of the DPR RI to the dynamics that occur in society regarding the deactivation of BPJS health membership for the PBI segment or health insurance premium assistance recipients," said Dasco at the beginning of the meeting.

Dasco explained that PBI is a social assistance program from the government to people who are unable to provide national health insurance so that they do not have to spend money on treatment.

"However, not all people have the opportunity to get this BPJS health BPI, only those from the poor or vulnerable poor who are entitled to be the priority of the program," he said.

Therefore, Dasco said, there needs to be improvements to the integrated health insurance governance ecosystem in order to mitigate the deactivation of the BPJS health program for assistance recipients (PBI).
