IPS Research Director: Anies Is Good Enough For 2024, But Has No Party Control
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS) survey institute said there are three strong figures who will enliven the contention of the 2024 presidential election, one of them is Anies Baswedan. IPS Research Director, Arman Salam said Anies was a qualified figure for 2024.
However, said Arman, when compared to other figures such as Prabowo Subianto or Puan Maharani, Anies' position is not balanced. Because Anies has no control over the party. Because Anies does not have a political party.
"Anies is quite good. Unfortunately, Anies is not in control or remote control of the party," he said in a virtual discussion, Tuesday, June 1.
According to Arman, if Anies wants to run in the 2024 presidential election contestation, then Anies must fight harder. He said, the Governor of DKI Jakarta must be able to position himself brilliantly compared to other candidates.
"Well, when it comes to which party has the opportunity to support Anies? All parties will follow suit. So the key is how now Anies can work on the basis that the fame index continues to be boosted, the level of likeability, and electability," he said.
Therefore, said Arman, Anies must have a solid team to support him in running for the 2024 presidential election. This team, said Arman, must increase Anies' popularity, liking and electability index.
"I think it must be done by structured, massive teams of course. So that in the end the party will line up," he explained.
Meanwhile, Jakarta observer Maman Firmansyah said that if Anies wants to run in the 2024 presidential election, he must start to open a network with all provinces in the country, in the last two years of his leadership in DKI Jakarta.
"After all (Anies) in the last two (last) years, he has to open his network, and I hope that if he is chosen by the community, don't be easily trapped by offers, which in the last two years have weakened public support or public sympathy," he said.
