Google Brings Gemini to Chrome for Chromebook Plus
JAKARTA - Gemini is now available on Chrome for Chromebook users. However, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot is only available for Chromebook Plus models.
Previously expanded to ChromeOS-based devices, Google only presented Gemini in Chrome for Windows and macOS-based devices. Even though it has been expanded to Chromebooks, only users in the US can access the chatbot.
Google deliberately only presents Gemini in Chrome on the Chromebook Plus model. The reason is, the device has the right specifications to run AI.
However, regular Chromebook users can still hope because Google did not explain whether Gemini will only be available in the Plus version. Google did not provide certainty about expanding Gemini on other Chromebook models.
Gemini for Chrome has been rolling out since late January. Google says Workspace admins need to manually disable this feature if they don't want to use it in their organization's environment.
Gemini for Chrome is designed to simplify the user's workflow in processing data from open tabs. Users can summarize long articles or solve complex tasks in seconds without switching applications.
In addition, this AI assistant can also help in the creation of creative content such as email drafts and social media uploads. There is also an image creation feature integrated in the browsing window.
