BRI Insurance Re-Disburses Post-disaster Humanitarian Aid in Aceh and Medan
JAKARTA - PT BRI Asuransi Indonesia (BRI Insurance) reiterated its commitment to carry out social responsibility by distributing humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected communities in two regions at once, namely in Pidie Jaya Aceh and Sibolga Medan.
This initiative is part of the company's active role which is sourced from fundraising and membership fees from Workers in supporting community recovery and strengthening social resilience after disasters.
In Aceh, BRI Insurance distributed assistance in the form of kitchen equipment in the form of 390 units of gas stoves, learning and worship equipment for flood-affected communities, which were symbolically handed over by the President Director of BRI Insurance, Budi Legowo, to the local Village Head. The activity was also attended by Fenti Octaviani, Vice President Corporate Secretary, Khusnul Hilal, Vice President of Syariah Business Division, and Ardiansyah, Head of BRI Insurance Syariah Aceh Branch.
The assistance with a total value of Rp. 230 million comes from fundraising and social dues of workers with the hope of being able to help the community meet the basic needs of households, education and worship activities to accelerate the recovery process so that daily activities can run well again.
"First, we share the grief of the disaster experienced by residents of Pidie Jaya and its surroundings. We believe that the presence of BRI Insurance must provide real benefits to the community, especially during a crisis situation. Through this assistance, we hope to alleviate the burden of affected residents while supporting a faster and sustainable recovery process," said President Director of BRI Insurance, Budi Legowo, in a statement, Sunday, February 8.
Budi Legowo also emphasized that as a company, the presence of BRI Insurance is not only oriented towards business growth, but can also provide real added value for the community.
"Before this post-disaster assistance, we have also distributed CSR assistance through BNPB to disaster areas in Aceh, Medan and Padang," said Budi.
On the same day, BRI Insurance also provided assistance in the form of Mandi, Cuci, Kakus (MCK) facilities to disaster-affected people in Medan. The assistance was handed over directly by Jimmy Prawiradigja, SEVP Engineering BRI Insurance, as a form of the company's concern for the need for safe and decent sanitation for the community.
The provision of sanitation facilities is an initiative step in line with the need to help maintain public health, restore dignity and comfort to the community in the midst of limited conditions.
Access to adequate sanitation is an important foundation in the recovery process, as well as supporting communities to be able to return to a safer and more productive life.
SEVP Engineering BRI Insurance, Jimmy Prawiradigja, stated that sanitation facilities are basic needs that cannot be delayed, especially in post-disaster situations.
"Through this MCK assistance, BRI Insurance wants to ensure that the community has access to a more decent and comfortable environment, so that the recovery process can take place more optimally. This is part of our commitment to be responsive and provide a sustainable positive impact," said Jimmy.
Going forward, the company will continue to take an active role in various social and humanitarian programs as a manifestation of corporate responsibility in supporting social resilience and more resilient and inclusive economic growth.
