Samarinda Traffic Police Take Action on Illegal Racing, 32 Motor Vehicles Seized
SAMARINDA - The Samarinda Police Traffic Unit disciplined the illegal racing action during the Blue Light patrol on Sunday, February 8 in the early morning. The authorities secured 32 motor vehicles involved in the action.
"Illegal racing not only violates the rules, but also greatly endangers the safety of the perpetrators and other road users," said Head of Traffic Police Samarinda Police, Kompol La Ode Prasetyo Fuad in Samarinda, quoted by ANTARA on Sunday.
This patrol program will be held regularly and consistently as a form of the commitment of the National Police in maintaining traffic safety and order in the Samarinda legal area.
The joint patrol was specifically focused on points that have often been used as a venue for speed contests by a number of drivers, such as in the Simpang Mesra area, Jalan Kusuma Bangsa, Samarinda.
The enforcement activity which started at 02.00 WITA involved personnel from the B Regu Turjawali Satlantas Polresta Samarinda who moved to comb the locations prone to security disturbances.
"Officers in the field not only carry out supervision, but also intensively monitor vehicle traffic to ensure that the highway remains safe and smooth for the general public," said La Ode.
The police gave on-the-spot amputation sanctions to 31 vehicles that were proven to violate traffic rules and endanger public safety. Meanwhile, another vehicle unit was secured but could not be processed for administrative detention because the owner fled when officers were about to conduct an inspection.
These preventive and repressive steps are taken to create Security, Safety, Order, and Traffic Flow (Kamseltibcarlantas) and to reduce the number of accidents on public roads.
"Efforts to prevent traffic accidents are our top priority considering the high risk of fatal accidents often caused by reckless actions without adequate safety," said Kompol La Ode.
The police also appealed to all levels of society, especially the younger generation in Samarinda, not to make public roads a wild racing arena.
