Prabowo Commits to Lower Hajj Costs through the Development of Hajj Villages

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is committed to reducing the cost of the hajj for Indonesian pilgrims through the construction of the Hajj Village in the Holy Land, Saudi Arabia.

The commitment was conveyed by the President in front of ulama and the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) family in the Mujahadah Kubro event commemorating the 100th Anniversary of NU at the Gajayana Stadium, Malang, East Java, Sunday, February 8 morning.

"Later, it is guaranteed that all pilgrims will get decent accommodation, a good place. Don't hesitate anymore, there shouldn't be any more. The service will be the best and I am determined to reduce the cost of Hajj for the Indonesian people," said Prabowo, quoted by Antara.

The President said Indonesia had the honor and the right to own land in the Holy City of Mecca. The land will be used to build the Haji Village which is intended for Indonesian pilgrims and umrah.

The development of the Haji Village, said the President, is aimed at ensuring the availability of decent and comfortable housing for pilgrims.

The government also targets an increase in service standards so that pilgrims can obtain better facilities during the performance of their worship.

"We hope that in three years we will have a good Hajj Village, just a few months later I think we will have about a thousand rooms, but we will continue to build," said Prabowo.

The Mujahadah Kubro which took place on February 7-8, 2026, is the culmination of a series of NU Centennial Harlah commemorations organized by the East Java PWNU.

The event is estimated to be attended by around 105 thousand people, consisting of 77,541 people from the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch (PCNU) throughout East Java and around 27,000 NU Muslimat residents. The congregation used 1,183 buses, 6,465 cars and 5,413 motorcycles.

The activity was attended by members of the Red and White Cabinet, charismatic ulama and kiai, NU Central Board, NU East Java Regional Board, and tens of thousands of Nahdliyin residents from various regions.
