X Platform Tests AI-Based Community Note Feature to Speed Up Information Verification

JAKARTA - The X platform is testing a 'collaborative note' feature in Community Notes. With this experimental feature, human writers can utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to speed up the process of verifying information.

This feature only works when the author or contributor asks AI to help draft a note on a post. After the AI drafts it, the contributor can rate the post or suggest improvements.

The system is designed so that each upload can get a record of improvement or verification quickly. The platform also wants to provide more accurate records even though contributors are urged to work faster.

X Community Notes supervisor Keith Coleman confirmed that the technology behind this AI feature is Grok. The use of Grok is in line with user habits who often tag Grok accounts to verify the truth in a thread.

"If it works well, it makes sense to bring a feedback-loop to the AI note-taker API as well," Coleman said, quoted by Engadget on Saturday, February 7.

Currently, access to start a collaborative note is only given to contributors with the status of 'top writer'. X plans to expand the availability of this feature to more users as the trial progresses.
