Enzo Fernandez Reveals Rosenior's Arrival Gives Chelsea More Freedom in Attack
Chelsea's improving side have more freedom to attack under manager Liam Rosenior.
Under Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca in January 2026, Chelsea have scored three goals in three consecutive matches before losing the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Last week, Chelsea came from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 and climb to fifth in the Premier League.
Enzo Fernandez insists that the arrival of the new manager has had a significant and positive impact on the team's attack.
"Maresca gave us identity, he was good for all of us. With the arrival of the new coach (Rosenior), there was a change."
"He gave us each a lot of confidence and we did well. Everything hasn't changed much, he just works differently."
"We are very happy to achieve the result and improve the level of the game. The game plan hasn't changed much."
"Liam gives us a little more freedom in the final third of the field, but we already have a strong foundation with Maresca."
"In the last few meters, he gave us the freedom to express ourselves," Fernandez told ESPN Argentina.
Chelsea have won three consecutive Premier League games ahead of the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
"When we get results, everything gets better for the team," the Argentine midfielder said.
Fernandez, who is in his third full season at Chelsea, has scored eight goals, including the winning goal in the final minutes against West Ham, as well as two assists in 23 league appearances for the Blues this season.
"Personally, I feel great, I'm happy. I feel I've improved both athletically and personally."
"As time goes on, I feel much better. It's a combination of a few things - good feelings off the field impacting on performance on the field," he said.
Fernandez, who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, said he had formed a good midfield partnership with Moises Caicedo.
"I love playing with Moi. He's a great player, I enjoy playing with him," he said of the Ecuadorian midfielder.
