19 Huntara Modular Blocks in Bener Meriah are Targeted to be Inhabited in the First Week of Ramadan
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets that 19 blocks of temporary modular housing (modular huntara) for people affected by flash floods in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, can be inhabited in the first week of Ramadan 2026.
This was stated by the Minister of PU when he directly reviewed the construction of a modular huntara in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, Friday, February 6.
"The progress is still according to schedule. Insyaallah this first week of Ramadan can be completed for 202 heads of households (KK)," said Dody in an official statement, quoted on Saturday, February 7.
The modular housing in Bener Meriah Regency was built using the prefabricated steel modular construction method on an area of 3 hectares (ha). Meanwhile, the total building area reaches 4,855 square meters consisting of 19 residential blocks, with a module area of 3,672 square meters (228 modules) and a non-residential area of 2,210 square meters for supporting facilities such as toilets and corridors.
The housing is designed to accommodate 228 households with adequate sanitation facilities in the form of 114 shower units, 114 toilet units, and four disabled facilities.
The residential support system also includes the provision of clean water from boreholes, the treatment of dirty water using biotanks and electricity supply from PLN.
In addition to housing, the modular huntara area is also equipped with planning for an integrated area arrangement that includes multifunctional areas, parking, prayer rooms, disabled-friendly housing, disabled toilets, and utility networks, to support the basic needs and social activities of residents.
To meet the need for clean water, the Aceh Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Office (BPBPK) also built a borewell with a depth of about 52 meters (m).
Dody said that the prospective residents were also ready to be relocated, so it was hoped that the affected community could immediately occupy the huntara.
"The candidate residents are ready. Hopefully, at the beginning of Ramadan, the affected people can immediately inhabit. Currently, it is still in progress, but we will pursue it to be completed on time," he added.
