Mahfud MD And The Answer Hanging About The Monas Explosion
JAKARTA - An explosion occurred at the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta at 07.15 WIB. As a result of the explosion, two TNI members, namely Serka Fajar and Praka Gunawan, were injured in the thigh.
The number one person in charge of security issues in this country, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, actually did not comment much on this issue. He did not want to answer this when asked by reporters at his office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta.
Initially, he explained about the RI Prosecutor's Coordination Meeting (Rakor) in Cipanas, West Java. He briefed the prosecutors at the coordination meeting held today. However, when asked about the explosion at Monas, Mahfud did not say much and immediately left, followed by his aides.
"I've been waiting for the president," he told reporters at the Kemenkopolhukam Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 3. After that, he immediately got into his car and headed for the Presidential Palace.
Before Mahfud, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto was also asked about this explosion. He answered briefly and would wait for the results of the investigation of the related team in charge of this matter.
"I also just heard this morning. We'll see the progress of the investigative investigation, yes," said Prabowo at the Ministry of Defense office. "There are parties investigating. ... We'll wait," he continued.
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesman Fadjroel Rachman said President Joko Widodo's agenda at the Presidential Palace was not disturbed by this incident. In fact, security there was also not tightened due to the explosion.
"The palace is fine. The agenda is all running, from 09.30 WIB receiving the Chancellor and the Minister of Research and Technology. At 10 receiving the UI Chancellor, there was a meeting from Japan and at 14.00 WIB there was a Presidential Lecture on Pancasila. Nothing was postponed," said Fadjroel. in the Monas area.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Gatot Eddy Pramono emphasized that the explosion at Monas originated from a smoke grenade which was still being searched for. Two members of the TNI garrison, Serka Fajar and Praka Gunawan, became victims as a result. They were taken to Gatot Subroto Hospital for treatment.
To investigate the incident, a team from the Bomb Squadter (Jibom), Inafis and the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) immediately held a case scene to seek other clues from this incident.
