BCA Targets Opening Branches in the Eastern Region
JAKARTA - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) still sees a wide expansion room for the development of branch office networks, especially in the eastern part of Indonesia. A number of areas are considered to have not been reached by banking branch services, despite having significant economic growth potential.
Senior Vice President of Operation Strategy & Development of BCA, Setiady, said that until now there are still many areas that do not have BCA branch offices, including on large islands such as Sulawesi.
"If you look at the list of branch offices, in those areas we still have a lot of branch offices. For example in Sulawesi, the area is actually wide. There are many cities that don't have (branch offices)," said Setiady in a discussion of the Future of Branch Offices Still Relevant? at the BCA Expoversary 2026 Mini Studio, ICE BSD, Tangerang, Friday, February 6.
According to Setiady, the expansion opportunity is not only open in the eastern region, but also in other regions that have not been touched by branch services optimally. However, for future branch opening plans, BCA pays more attention to the eastern region of Indonesia.
"For sure more in the East," he said when asked about the focus of opening branches in 2026.
Setiady added that Sulawesi is one of the regions considered to have great potential for network development. Economic growth and business activities in the region are assessed to continue to grow, so they need closer banking services support.
"Sulawesi has the potential to develop a lot," he said.
However, BCA still opens up opportunities for expansion in the western region of Indonesia. Setiady said that a number of areas in Sumatra are still not fully accessible to BCA branch networks.
"In the West, there is still an opportunity for us to open as well. Because in fact in the West, such as South Sumatra and Riau, there are still many cities that we have not reached," he said.
He gave an example, in North Sumatra, the BCA branch office just reached Kabanjahe, which was opened last year. This shows that there is still room for penetrating services to deeper areas.
For the realization of branch opening, Setiady said that throughout 2025 BCA opened around 20 new branch offices. This number is estimated to be relatively similar in 2026.
"In 2025, there are about 20 branches. For 2026, there are more than 20 branches. It should be more or less the same," he said, adding that the detailed target is still in the planning stage.
