JAKARTA - The Agam Regency Government (Pemkab) in West Sumatra (Sumbar) recorded 2,497 residents still displaced due to damaged houses and are in the red zone area due to the impact of hydrometeorological disasters that hit the area at the end of November 2025.
"There are still 2,497 residents who have been displaced and this is based on the results of the validation we have carried out," said Assistant I for Government and Kesra of the Agam Regional Secretariat Yunilson in Lubuk Basung, Friday, quoted by Antara.
He said the 2,497 residents were spread across Palembayan District 623 people, Tanjung Raya 1,192 people, and Malalak 280 people.
They took refuge in places of worship, neighbors' houses, and a number of other places because their houses were damaged and in the red zone.
"They have been displaced since the flash flood and landslide disasters hit the area in late November 2025," he said.
He added that the disaster also resulted in 166 people dying, spread across Palembayan 146 people, Malalak 17 people, Tanjung Raya 10 people, Matur one person, and Ampek Nagari one person.
Meanwhile, 36 missing people were spread across Palembayan District, 32 people, one person in Malalak, two people in Tanjung Raya, and one person in Lubuk Basung.
One of the residents of Tanjung Raya, Rahmat Hidayat, said that he and his family had evacuated to the former cow barn owned by residents because their house was damaged.
"We evacuated here after the owner gave permission and we immediately cleaned it together," he said.
He admitted that the condition of his house was severely damaged and the area was in the red zone.
For this reason, he hopes to get a temporary residence soon, so that his family can occupy it.
