BATC 2026 results: Thailand silent, Indonesian women's team into the semifinals
JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's badminton squad qualified for the semifinals of the Badminton Asia Team Championship or Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) 2026 after passing a fierce match against Thailand.
Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo and her friends escaped the needle's eye thanks to a narrow 3-2 victory over the White Elephant State at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Friday, February 6, 2026, WIB afternoon.
Indonesia lost the first number when Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan came down as the first women's singles. He lost two straight games in a fierce duel against Busanan Ongbamrungphan with a final score of 22-24 and 18-21.
Then the women's doubles, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Tria Puspitasari, who dropped in the second match, managed to equalize. This pair defeated Tidapron Kleebyeesun/Nattamon Laisuan two games 21-14 and 21-18.
Next, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi who played in the third match failed to bring Indonesia back to the lead. He lost the rubber game 21-19, 17-21, and 13-21 against Pitchamon Opatniputh.
Indonesia's hopes were then revived by the women's doubles Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti who went down in the fourth match. They won easily against the pair Hathaithip Mijad/Napapakorn Tungkasatan two games straight 21-13 and 21-9 to identify the score.
Indonesia's victory was then determined by the women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo. The badminton player from Papua brought Indonesia to the semifinals after locking in a 21-13 and 21-16 victory over Pornpicha Choeikeewong.
This is Ester's second match played at BATC 2026. She previously played against Hong Kong in the first match of the group stage and managed to contribute points for Indonesia.
BATC 2026 is a tournament that marks the 20-year-old's comeback. He had previously been absent for a long time since the Taipei Open in May last year due to a fracture of the right tibia when practicing at the PBSI National Training Center.
In the semifinal round, the Indonesian women's squad will face a tough test against South Korea. The country, which has the status of the second seed, got a ticket to the semifinal round after winning 3-0 against Malaysia.
