M 6.4 earthquake shakes Bantul, four buildings damaged and seven residents injured

BANTUL - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, recorded at least four damaged buildings and seven residents were injured due to a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that occurred on Friday, February 6 in the early morning.

The Commander of the BPBD Bantul Disaster Management Operations Center (Pusdalops PB), Aka Luk Luk Firmansyah, said that until 03.45 WIB his party received reports of four points of damage.

"The number of impacts that entered the Pusdalops PB BPBD Bantul update at 03.45 WIB there were four points of damage," said Aka when confirmed, Friday morning.

He explained that the earthquake, which occurred at 01.06 WIB with a center 89 kilometers south of Pacitan, East Java, and a depth of 10 kilometers, caused three houses and one place of worship to be damaged.

The damage was spread across four sub-districts, namely Imogiri, Jetis, Pundong, and Kasihan, each with one location.

In addition to building damage, BPBD also recorded seven people were injured. The victims have been rushed to a number of hospitals for treatment.

"Three people were referred to PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital, three to Panembahan Senopati Hospital, and one to another hospital," he said.

BPBD Bantul together with a number of related elements immediately carried out assessments, monitoring the condition of the area, including the tide of the sea, medical handling, and monitoring the potential for aftershocks.

The handling involves PMI Bantul, PSC 119, Sahabat Relawan Indonesia Region 3, hospitals, Disaster Risk Reduction Forum at the village level, and local residents.

Aka emphasized that the data collection process is still ongoing so that the number of impacts recorded is still temporary and can change according to the update of reports in the field.
