Juda Agung was inaugurated as Wamenkeu, said his appointment had been planned
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Juda Agung stated that his appointment as deputy minister by President Prabowo Subianto was not done suddenly.
"It was a long time ago (it had been informed), not suddenly," said Juda Agung when answering a journalist's question after the inauguration ceremony for him as deputy minister of finance at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, February 5.
Therefore, Juda resigned from his original position as deputy governor of Bank Indonesia in mid-January 2026. Juda's resignation was followed by the nomination stage of Thomas Djiwandono, who previously served as deputy minister of finance, as deputy governor of Bank Indonesia (BI).
"The reason for the resignation (as deputy governor of BI, ed.) is clear, because I was assigned as deputy minister of finance. Of course I can't double as deputy governor of Bank Indonesia. (Ministry of Finance and Bank Indonesia, ed.) two different authorities," said Juda.
Juda Agung has resigned from his position as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia since January 13, 2026. Meanwhile, Thomas Djiwandono was appointed as Deputy Governor of BI for the period 2026-2031 based on the results of the 12th DPR RI Plenary Meeting of the III Session of the 2025-2026 Session at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on January 27, 2026.
President Prabowo Subianto then appointed Juda Agung as deputy minister of finance at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, to fill the vacant position of wamenkeu after the appointment of Thomas Djiwandono.
Juda's inauguration was stipulated in the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 3M of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Red and White Cabinet Deputy Minister of Finance for the 2024-2029 period which was signed by President Prabowo in Jakarta, on February 5, 2026.
After the inauguration, Juda revealed several directions from President Prabowo to him.
"The point from the President is that to encourage economic growth, to achieve government programs that have been announced, of course, requires coordination between fiscal policy and monetary policy, and of course also policies in the real sector, so that this becomes effective in our efforts to encourage economic growth in the future," said Juda Agung in response to a journalist's question.
Meanwhile, regarding the division of duties with the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, as well as other deputy ministers of finance, namely Suahasil Nazara, Juda explained that detailed matters such as the division of duties would be discussed later.
"The details will be later, Insyaallah tomorrow (6/2) I will meet with him (Minister of Finance Purbaya, ed.) to discuss the details of the division of duties," said Juda.
