KKP Partners with the TNI to Accelerate the Implementation of National Priority Programs

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has strengthened strategic cooperation with the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in supporting the implementation of national priority programs in the maritime and fisheries sectors.

The collaboration is aimed at accelerating the development of the marine and fisheries sector as well as supporting national food security.

The synergy was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the TNI which took place in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 4.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is an important foundation in ensuring that government priority programs run effectively and sustainably.

"The Blue Economy that we encourage places ecology as the commander. For this, security support, field assistance and logistical capabilities of the TNI are needed so that KKP programs can be executed faster, more targeted and provide real benefits for coastal communities," said Trenggono as quoted from a written statement, Thursday, February 5.

In 2026, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries will carry out a number of priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto, including the development of 1,100 Red and White Fishing Villages (KNMP), the revitalization of cultivation ponds in the Java Pantura, the development of integrated shrimp cultivation areas, thematic cultivation in 500 districts/cities, salt self-sufficiency to the modernization of fishing vessels.

All of these programs are considered in line with the strategic role of the TNI in maintaining the security of the area of marine food production and ensuring the smooth distribution of fishery products to various regions.

Trenggono added that the cooperation between the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the TNI was not only sectoral, but also touched on technical assistance, the use of facilities and infrastructure, the supervision of marine and fisheries resources, and the improvement of human resources capacity.

"With the involvement of the TNI, we are optimistic that food sovereignty based on marine and fisheries can be realized while improving the welfare of fishermen and coastal communities," he said.

Meanwhile, the TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, emphasized his party's full readiness to support KKP priority programs so that they can run sustainably.

According to Agus, the program presented by Trenggono is in line with the structure and commitment of the TNI organization which is spread across various regions, including direct contact with the fisheries and marine sector.

"The programs delivered by the Minister are very important and in order to run continuously, we are ready to support. Our organization has a commitment in the marine and fisheries sector spread across a number of regions," he explained.

Agus gave an example, the existence of the TNI unit on the South Coast coastal area has begun to be directed to support productive activities in line with government policies.

He also revealed plans to add 150 TNI battalions in 2026 which will be stationed in strategic locations according to the President's instructions, to support related ministries and agencies.

"This placement will be adjusted to the policy of the President so that it can provide real support to the ministry's programs, including KKP," he explained.

The TNI Commander assessed that the synergy between KKP and his party would accelerate the achievement of the target for the development of the marine and fisheries sector while maintaining national resources so that they are not illegally used by other parties.

"With this synergy, what the Minister said earlier can be achieved faster. We are ready to fully support KKP programs," he added.
