KKP Stops 7 Vaname Shrimp Ponds in NTB

MATARAM - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has temporarily suspended seven shrimp vaname farming businesses operating in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) region because they have been proven to violate the compliance of aquaculture fisheries business permits.

Director General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Supervision (PSDKP) Pung Nugroho Saksono said the action was a corrective step aimed at organizing business activities so that they run in accordance with the rules.

"The temporary suspension is carried out to ensure that all aquaculture fishing business activities run in accordance with the provisions of permits and standards that have been established," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 5.

Ipunk explained that the seven vaname shrimp ponds that were temporarily stopped by the KKP included TCWJ in East Lombok and SDP, SMM, CJL, VI, CSAV10, and CSAV11 in Sumbawa.

According to him, compliance with licensing and cultivation standards is not merely an administrative obligation, but a part of the business actors' responsibility in maintaining marine and fishery resources and the environment.

"Permits and cultivation standards are important instruments to protect ecosystems, ensure safe cultivation results for consumption, and maintain market confidence. Therefore, supervision is carried out consistently and measured," said Ipunk.

Based on the results of field supervision, violations found in seven shrimp vaname farms were in the form of Standard Certificates that had not been verified; they did not have a Good Fish Farming Certificate (CBIB); they did not submit periodic Business Activity Reports (LKU); and the use of drugs, feed, and fish vitamins that had not been registered with the KKP.

In addition, some business actors were also found to be inconsistent in fulfilling basic licensing and licensing efforts to support business activities.

Director of Fisheries Resources Supervision of the KKP, Halid Jusuf, explained that in the risk-based fisheries cultivation business licensing scheme, there is a business license and a business license to support business activities or known as PB UMKU.

"In fisheries cultivation, the Standard Certificate is a business permit, while CBIB is a business permit to support business activities. The Standard Certificate must be verified first before business actors can apply for CBIB," he said.

Halid appealed to business actors to immediately carry out licensing management online through integrated business licensing or Online Single Submission (OSS) so that business actors can continue their business more sustainably.

"The supervision that we carry out is not to hinder investment, but to ensure that all business activities run in accordance with the provisions, have legal certainty, and do not have a negative impact on the marine environment," concluded Halid.

The KKP applied administrative witnesses to the seven shrimp ponds in the form of a temporary suspension of business activities until all licensing obligations are met.

Some business actors have been fined administratively based on the formula of 2.5 percent of the previous period's working capital, as well as a written reprimand for administrative violations.
