Breaking 15 Million NEV Production, BYD is Getting Stronger in the Global and Indonesian Markets

JAKARTA - BYD continues to assert its position as one of the key players in the global automotive industry. This Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer is not only aggressively expanding into various countries, but also consistently presenting products that are in line with market needs in each region.

The strategy has paid off. By 2025, BYD has produced more than 15 million units of New Energy Vehicles (NEV) globally, making it one of the most successful automotive brands in the world's electrification segment.

"By 2025, BYD has reached 15 million NEV production worldwide. This confirms our scale and consistency at the global level," said Head of PR & Government BYD Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, in his speech at the IIMS 2026 stage in Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday, February 5.

In the same year, BYD also recorded global sales of 4.6 million units of NEVs, confirming its position as the sales champion in the new energy vehicle segment. This achievement is inseparable from BYD's research and development (R&D) strength, which continues to drive innovation and product efficiency.

"In addition to strong domestic sales, our export performance is also very positive with the achievement of one million units throughout 2025," added Luther.

Strengthen penetration in Indonesia

In the Indonesian market, BYD immediately stepped on the gas in early 2026 by presenting the latest variant of the Atto 3 electric SUV, namely the Atto 3 Advanced Plus, which was officially launched at the 2026 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). This variant comes with a number of improvements to answer the needs of Indonesian consumers.

"We are proud to introduce Atto 3 Advanced Plus as part of BYD's commitment to continue to bring products that are relevant to the Indonesian market," said Luther.

He explained that the presence of this new variant is a direct response to consumer input and demand, which was then translated by the BYD R&D team into the development of more targeted products.

"Like what manufacturers generally do, we look at market response. The BYD R&D team identified the segments and variants that Indonesian consumers really need," he added.

Sales grew rapidly.

Along with the rapid growth of the national electric vehicle market, BYD recorded impressive performance in Indonesia. The peak momentum occurred in the fourth quarter of 2025, when the penetration of the electric car market jumped significantly, with BYD contributing up to 18 percent.

"Along with this acceleration, BYD recorded sales of 54 thousand units in Indonesia throughout 2025," concluded Luther.

With a growing product portfolio, global technology support, and a strong focus on local market needs, BYD is further solidifying its position as one of the key drivers of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.
