Sibak Cross-City Network, Kuansing Police, Riau, Seized 22.5 Kg of Dry Marijuana in 21 Packages
JAKARTA - The Narcotics and Illegal Drugs Unit of the Kuantan Singingi Police (Kuansing), Riau Province, seized approximately 22.5 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves in 21 large packages from an intercity network.
Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Kuansing Police, AKP Hasan Basri, in a press conference in Kuantan Bay, Thursday, explained that this disclosure was the result of continuous development. The case began when officers arrested the first suspect with the initials MA at the Lubuk Jambi Market with an initial evidence weighing 100 grams of dry marijuana.
"Based on the information from the suspect MA, the team immediately carried out intensive development because they found information about the existence of a follow-up transaction on a larger scale," said AKP Hasan Basri quoted by Antara.
Furthermore, on Sunday (1/2) officers suspected a car unit and immediately carried out a blockade at the location. In this action, the police managed to secure the suspect JN, while his colleague FH had tried to escape into the residential area.
However, FH's escape was stopped after the officers chased him for 1 kilometer. When searched, a large package of marijuana weighing 1 kilogram was found wrapped in duct tape in the middle seat of the car.
"According to JN's confession, he came from a supplier in Pekanbaru. Armed with this information, the team moved quickly to Pekanbaru City and managed to raid the suspect DP at a boarding house on Jalan Damai, Tobek Godang Village, Pekanbaru," he said.
The search, which was witnessed by the RT chairman and the owner of the hostel, yielded surprising results. There were dozens of marijuana packages hidden in various corners of the room such as under the mattress and a pile of clothes.
The largest finding was on the ceiling of the kos-kosan with 20 large packages. From the results of the interrogation, the suspect DP admitted that he received supplies from a man with the initials SN (DPO) with two sacks containing a total of 50 large packages of marijuana to be distributed in the Riau region.
The suspect DP also revealed that he was promised a wage of Rp. 350 thousand for each package of marijuana sold. Now, the four suspects and all the evidence have been secured at the Kuantan Singingi Police to undergo further legal proceedings and development to hunt down the big dealers behind this network.
