Derbi Mataram PSIM Yogyakarta vs Persis Solo: Security is More Tight

YOGYAKARTA - The classic duel between PSIM Yogyakarta and Persis Solo titled Derbi Mataram will be more tightly secured. The Bantul Police have prepared at least 341 joint personnel so that the derby in the Super League, which will be held at the Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, Friday, February 6, 2026, will be safe and smooth.

The fight between the two teams from the region that used to be one in the era of the Mataram Islamic kingdom. However, the region was then divided into two through the Giyanti Agreement into the Kesunanan Surakarta (under Pakubuwono III) and the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate (under Mangkubumi/Sultan Hamengkubuwono I). The agreement that ended the glory of Mataram Islam.

Now the two regions have the same football club that competes in the Super League. Especially after PSIM managed to promote and become the champion of League 2.

The duel which is wrapped in the history of the kingdom and the prestige of who is the best from the same club that also played a role in founding PSSI makes the match always take place with high intensity. Interesting because Persis and PSIM shoulder-to-shoulder with other clubs gave birth to PSSI in Yogyakarta.

The meeting of the two teams also had an impact on the feud from PSIM and Persis supporters. Only that feud seems to have ended and what has emerged is a harmonious relationship from the supporters of the football team.

Even though the supporters of the two teams have no problem with the waving of the peace flag, it does not mean that the security forces are sitting on their hands. They are still trying to make the security better so that the match runs smoothly.

Security from the Police has run smoothly when PSIM hosts Persebaya Surabaya in the first match of the second round of the competition. Moreover, this is supported by the decision not to allow Persebaya supporters to come to Yogyakarta because the league operator still adheres to the rule that there should be no away tour for guest team supporters.

PSIM indeed lost 3-0. However, the atmosphere is still conducive. And, now PSIM hopes to reap the first victory in this second round when welcoming Persis. The Bantul Police have also prepared by deploying joint personnel.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, stated that security prioritized a humanistic approach. However, the police remain firm against anyone who disturbs the order and safety of the match.

"We prioritize security in a humanitarian way. However, anyone who acts violently and threatens the course of the match will be dealt with," said Rita in Bantul, Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Officers in the field have also received orders to carry out strict surveillance since the entrance to the stadium. Supporters are prohibited from carrying dangerous items, including flares, firecrackers, fireworks, alcoholic beverages, sharp weapons, or the use of brong exhaust on motor vehicles.

To reduce the risk of friction between supporters, the number of spectators is limited. According to regulations, visiting team supporters are not allowed to attend the stadium.

"This decision is the result of a joint commitment to maintain the atmosphere. We invite the home supporters to support their team in an orderly and peaceful manner," Rita added.

In addition to security inside the stadium, the Bantul Police prepared situational traffic engineering around the SSA. The public is asked to find alternative routes on Friday afternoon to avoid congestion due to a surge in vehicles.

The police also reminded supporters not to make a post-match convoy. "We ask supporters to go home immediately in an orderly manner and not to make a convoy on the highway for the smooth flow of traffic," he said.

For the derby, the organizing committee (panpel) prepared a quota of 9,000 tickets. Tickets are divided into 8,500 for the open stand and 500 for the closed stand (including match complements for players and team officials, sponsors, and invited guests).

The chairman of the PSIM Panpel, Wendy Umar Seno Aji, said the ticket sales were maximized by two official supporter containers, Brajamusti and Maident.

This system has also been applied in the previous match against Persebaya. This step is a mutual agreement to screen ticket buyers so that they do not fall into the hands of the guest team supporters.

"The ticket sales system through these two supporter platforms will be more filtered. This is to minimize ticket leakage for guest team supporters," said Wendy.

Online or online ticket sales remain an option, but are situational depending on quota availability. If the allocation during the presale through the supporter container is not exhausted, the tickets will be returned to the digital channel system.
