Pejaten Residents Secure 56-Year-Old Man for Alleged Abuse of 9-Year-Old Child

JAKARTA - The police have secured a man with the initials R (56) who harassed an underage child with the initials AA (9) in the Pejaten Barat area, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta (Jaksel).

"The results of the check, a man suspected of child abuse has been secured, who was secured by the surrounding residents," said Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, Head of the Pasar Minggu Police, to reporters in Jakarta, Thursday.

He said the report was received on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 14.40 WIB, and police officers immediately checked the location of the incident at 14.53 WIB.

Not long after, the police immediately secured the perpetrator to avoid the crowd's rampage at the location.

"We immediately secured and brought the perpetrator to the South Jakarta Metro Police because we were afraid of being the target of the mass anger around who was angry at the perpetrator," said Anggiat.

Then, the family was directed to make a police report to the South Jakarta Metro Police for further action.

"The matter is still being handled by the South Jakarta Metro Police," said Anggiat.
