BPS Records Unemployment Decreased to 7.35 Million People per November 2025
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the number of unemployed in Indonesia in November 2025 reached 7.35 million people or decreased by around 109 thousand people compared to August 2025.
Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the decrease in the number of unemployed people showed an improvement in the national employment situation.
"The number of unemployed people in November 2025 was 7.35 million people or down by 0.109 million people compared to August 2025. Thus, the number of unemployed people has decreased," he said in a press conference, Thursday, February 5.
He explained that the number of unemployed was equivalent to the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) of 4.74 percent, lower than August 2025 which was at the level of 4.85 percent.
According to him, the decline in TPT occurs in both male and female populations, as well as in urban and rural areas.
Amalia also explained that in November 2025, the number of working-age population reached 218.85 million people, or increased by around 681 thousand people compared to August 2025.
Of this number, the workforce was recorded at 155.27 million people or an increase of 1.262 million people.
Meanwhile, the population who are not in the workforce, amounting to 63.58 million people, experienced a decrease of around 580 thousand people.
"So the number of the workforce increased and those who are not in the workforce decreased," he explained.
In addition, BPS recorded 147.91 million people working out of a total labor force of 155.27 million people in November 2025.
The number of working population increased by 1.371 million people compared to August 2025.
He detailed that full-time workers reached 100.497 million people or increased by 1.85 million people.
Meanwhile, Amalia said that part-time workers were recorded at 35.858 million people or decreased by 438,000 people, and half of the unemployed were 11.558 million people or decreased by 42,000 people.
He added that the proportion of the population working in the formal sector increased during the period from August to November 2025.
According to him, this increase is mainly driven by the increase in the number of workers, employees, and employees.
"The proportion of formal workers in November 2025 will be 42.30 percent of the total working population," he said.
