Chrisye's Eternal Legacy: When Hands And Feet Say They Are Brought Back Together With Cakra Khan
JAKARTA - After almost three decades, the song Ketika Tangan Dan Kaki Berkatayang was written by Chrisye with the writer Taufiq Ismail, was re-produced and introduced to Indonesian music lovers.
Through the cooperation of MyMusic Records and Musica Studios, the song whose lyrics were inspired by Surat Yasin verse 65 was presented again with a duet concept between Cakra Khan and the original recording of the late Chrisye's vocals.
With a more dramatic arrangement change, the message in the lyrics of this song becomes even stronger with the combination of Chrisye's sad voice and Cakra Khan's more heartbreaking vocals.
For Cakra, the duet with a legendary figure like Chrisye is a special honor. He was even amazed when he undertook this project.
"I am very excited about this collaboration. Although he is no longer here, his works and his voice are still alive until now," said Cakra Khan, through a press release to VOI, Thursday, February 5.
"When I first heard the late voice in raw (original recording), it was a very special moment," continued Cakra. "Chrisye's voice has a very clear identity, and even though this is a duet, I try not to ruin the spirit of this song."
According to the 33-year-old singer-songwriter, this collaboration is so important, considering a great work like "When Hands And Feet Say" has a very deep and relevant message, even to this day.
This new version is also presented in the form of a music video that is made differently - taking place at GD Sasana Krida Desa, Cibubur Camp - with the direction of director Rizal Mantovani.
The latest music video for "When Hands And Feet Say" is divided into two parts, where the first part depicts Cakra Khan's appearance collaborating with Chrisye through modified recordings and visuals.
Then in the second part, there is a strong symbolism to describe the various good and bad actions performed by the hands and feet of humans, from loving children to committing bad deeds.
This song and music video, said Cakra Khan, invites us to reflect again on our responsibility as human beings towards the life we live in the world.
"Thank you to Chrisye for his amazing works. He is a legend, and I am very grateful that he has paved the way for singers like me," said Cakra.
"Hopefully this song can be a reminder for all of us to always think about every step and deed we take. Because time is very precious," he concluded.
