The Bandung Zoo Segel City Government After the Conservation Agency's Permit Was Withdrawn by the Ministry of Home Affairs

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police Pamong Praja Unit (Satpol PP) sealed the Bandung Zoo area as a measure to secure regional assets following the revocation of the conservation agency's permit by the Ministry of Forestry.

Head of the Bandung City Satpol PP Bambang Sukardi said the sealing was not an eviction or execution, but a form of governance arrangement and protection of local government assets.

"Today we are sealing for the sake of our common interests. There are still animals and workers in the area, so security measures are carried out in a measured way and still prioritize coordination," said Bambang in Bandung, Thursday, February 5, reported by ANTARA.

He explained that Satpol PP together with related parties would carry out comprehensive security for the zoo area to ensure that the assets owned by the region are still protected.

"This is not an eviction or execution. Our presence here is actually a form of support so that the city government can collaborate with all parties to solve this problem in a good way," he said.

Bambang said that various findings and conditions in the field would be immediately reported to the Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan as a consideration in determining the next policy.

According to him, the Bandung City Government is committed to maintaining the sustainability of animal protection and ensuring that workers in the area continue to receive attention during the management transition period.

"In the near future we will communicate to the leadership. The principle is that this security is for the common interest, for the orderly management of regional assets," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) of the Ministry of Forestry, Satyawan Pudiyatmoko, emphasized that the revocation of the permit was carried out so that the country could ensure that all animals remained protected.

"The state must not allow animals to become victims of administrative issues. We are revoking this permit to ensure that animals in the Bandung Zoo are protected and not abandoned," said Satyawan.

He said the Ministry of Forestry would be fully responsible for the care and rescue of all animals for a maximum of three months in the future until a new manager who is considered professional and meets animal welfare standards is appointed.

"Bandung Zoo is the pride of West Java people, especially the City of Bandung. The animals in it are a trust that we must protect together," he said.
