Pramono Sets Target for Overall PON 2028 Champion, Asking DKI KONI to Improve Training
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opened the 13th Provincial Sports Conference (Musorprov) of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) DKI Jakarta 2026. In the forum, Pramono emphasized the main target of Jakarta's sports development is to restore the general champion status at the 2028 National Sports Week (PON).
Pramono said that this time Musorprov was not just a routine agenda of the organization, but a momentum for evaluating and consolidating the direction of Jakarta's sports development. He hopes that the forum will produce a solid, transparent, and focused KONI management on long-term achievements.
"I hope this forum will produce decisions and recommendations that focus on improving sports performance sustainably. A good process will produce management and program directions that are strong and relevant to Jakarta's future sports challenges," said Pramono in Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday, February 5.
He alluded to DKI Jakarta's achievements in the last few editions of the PON, which were considered not comparable to the facilities and coaching systems it had. According to Pramono, Jakarta has more complete sports infrastructure than other regions, but it is not entirely proportional to the results.
"We last became the overall champion at the 2012 PON. After that, our ranking fell. Therefore, my goal is clear, Jakarta must return to being the overall champion at the 2028 PON," he said.
Pramono ensured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government was ready to provide full support to KONI and all stakeholders in sports, both in terms of policy and budget. He also emphasized the importance of synergy between the DKI KONI, the Youth and Sports Office, the DKI Jakarta DPRD, and the sports branch managers.
Apart from the issue of athlete training, Pramono expressed his support for the plan to develop beach sports in the Ancol area. He asked the management of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol together with the DKI Jakarta Sports Agency to prepare a mature planning so that the development does not stop at the discourse.
He also opened the opportunity for Jakarta to become a location to support the PON sports branch in 2028 if the host area had limited facilities. According to Pramono, Jakarta has international standard sports facilities that are ready to be used.
"There is no area whose sports facilities are as complete as Jakarta. We have sport science, sport technology, and sport management that have been running well. This is a big capital to win the title of champion," he said.
Pramono also highlighted the issue of the exodus of athletes that often occurred in previous PON. He assessed that the protection and sustainability of athlete training was the key to keeping athletes from choosing to defend Jakarta.
"That's what we have to take care of. With the readiness and completeness that we have, I hope DKI Jakarta can prepare as well as possible for the 2028 PON," concluded Pramono.
