President Immediately Take Adies Kadir's Oath as Constitutional Judge
JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, who is also the Spokesperson for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, stated that the swearing-in ceremony for Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Court (MK) Constitutional Court Judge is scheduled to be held at the Palace within 1-2 days.
President Prabowo Subianto has signed a presidential decree (keppres) regarding the appointment of Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Court judge to replace Arief Hidayat.
"(The oath-taking ceremony, ed.) is planned within 1-2 days. (The procession, ed.) takes the oath (of office, ed.) in front of the President," said Prasetyo Hadi when answering a journalist's question when he was met at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 4 evening.
The Constitutional Court has respectfully dismissed Constitutional Judge Arief Hidayat who entered retirement during the graduation ceremony for retired judges at the Plenary Session Building I of the Constitutional Court (MK), Jakarta, Wednesday.
In the retirement ceremony, the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court, Heru Setiawan, read a passage from the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9/P Year 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Constitutional Judges submitted by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI).
"Deciding, determining and so on, to one, respectfully dismissing Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat S.H., M.S. as a Constitutional Judge effective February 3, 2026, accompanied by words of thanks for his dedication and services during his tenure," said Heru reading the excerpt from Presidential Decree No. 9/P regarding the dismissal of Arief Hidayat.
In the same procession, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, conveyed the impression of the message when releasing Arief who had served for 13 years at the Constitutional Court.
"We can be together in this room in good condition and in good health in order to release the noble Prof. Arief and his wife who have been with us all for 13 years," said Suhartoyo.
Meanwhile, the nomination of Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Court judge was approved by the Indonesian House of Representatives in the 12th Plenary Meeting of the III Session of the 2025-2026 Session in Jakarta, on January 27, 2026. The Indonesian House of Representatives approved Adies Kadir, who was previously the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, as a Constitutional Judge at the Constitutional Court (MK) from the Indonesian House of Representatives.
The same meeting also agreed to revoke the DPR RI Decree Number 11/DPR/1/2025-2026 concerning the DPR's approval of the replacement of constitutional judges, who had previously nominated Inosentius Samsul.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Saan Mustopa, after the plenary meeting, explained that the DPR RI decided to submit Adies Kadir as a Constitutional Justice, because Adies holds the title of professor and doctorate in law.
In addition, Saan said that Adies, throughout his career in Senayan, has always been a member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives which deals with legal affairs, so that Adies is believed to have experience and a track record that is qualified to carry out the mandate as a Constitutional Justice.
