Purbaya Speaks up about the Misbakhun Issue as OJK Chairman Candidate

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa spoke up regarding the news that the Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR, Mukhamad Misbakhun, was included in the exchange of candidates for Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Purbaya said he did not know the information and that the government was still in the stage of forming a selection committee (Pansel) for the selection process for the Chairman of the OJK.

"Oh I don't know. This is just that I have formed Pansel. I just asked BI to send people to Pansel, and later we will invite some sophisticated community figures to participate in Pansel," he told the media, Wednesday, February 4.

Previously, the Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mukhamad Misbakhun, spoke up regarding the news that he was one of the candidates for the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Misbakhun admitted that he had not received any instructions or notifications regarding the issue.

He emphasized that he did not know the information and until now he was still carrying out the duties given by the party as the Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI.

"I don't know, I don't know. Until now my party's duty, I am the Chairman of Commission XI," he told the media, Wednesday, February 4.

He also conveyed that there had been no further communication or discussion regarding the possibility and chose to remain focused on his current responsibilities at Commission XI.

"The task of my party is the chairman, my party assigns me to be the chairman of Commission XI," he said.

When asked about his readiness if he was appointed as the head of OJK, Misbakhun was reluctant to speculate and did not want to discuss further about the possibility.

"I don't wish for anything," he said.
