25 Bodies of Cisarua Landslide Victims Not Identified

BANDUNG - The West Java Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has identified as many as 67 bodies of victims of the Pasirlangu Village landslide disaster in Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency.

Head of Public Relations of West Java Police Kombes Hendra Rochmawan said that so far the DVI post at the search location has received as many as 92 bags of bodies from the joint SAR team.

"On the 12th day we have managed to identify 67 bodies. Thus, there are still 25 that have not been identified," said Hendra as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 4.

He explained that the DVI team continued to proceed with the identification process for the bodies that had not been confirmed through the data reconciliation stage.

"For the future, from the remaining bodies we are carrying out reconciliation activities related to the identification process that has been carried out, both comparing post-mortem and ante-mortem data," he said.

Hendra hopes that the number of victims who have been identified will continue to increase as the process of matching data by the forensic team progresses.

"Because based on the reports we received, the number of missing people continues to be updated every day. We will serve until the entire process is completed," he said.

The police also deployed the Detachment of Tracking Dogs (Den K9 SAR) to accelerate the search process for victims of landslides in areas with high difficulty levels.

"All our resources are deployed to the maximum, quickly, and measured so that the process of searching for victims can take place effectively, while ensuring that the information provided to the public is accurate and accountable," said Hendra.

He explained that the presence of Den K9 SAR is expected to be able to help the joint team in detecting the whereabouts of victims buried by landslides, especially in areas that are difficult to reach with heavy equipment.

"We know that at this time the weather is sometimes good, but sometimes it still rains, so of course the joint SAR team still has a number of difficulties," he said.
