JAKARTA - The Pademangan Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a gang of motorcycle thieves who often acted on Jalan Pesanggrahan 4, RT 09/12, Pademangan, North Jakarta.
The arrest of the perpetrators was based on CCTV camera footage and the results of the investigation by the Opsnal Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pademangan Police. After the investigation was carried out, the police obtained the identities of the perpetrators.
The two suspects are known as WP (42) residents of Pademangan and MR (26) residents of East Bekasi, West Java.
"The suspect with the initials MR was secured at his house in the East Pademangan area when he got off with his wife. The suspect with the initials WP was secured when he got off the microlet on Jalan RE Martadinata," said Panit Opsnal Unit Reskrim Polsek Pademangan, Ipda Zaenal Mustofa to reporters, Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Ipda Zaenal explained that the arrest began with a report from one of the residents of Pademangan. The victim reported the loss of one unit of the Honda Beat brand vehicle.
"From the results of the field check of the Operational Crime Scene, we can get clues from CCTV and we know that they did it in three. Based on the investigation and clues, we managed to secure two of the three targets," he said.
The first arrest was made against the suspect MR. Then developed to another suspect with the initials WP.
"One of the executors is still at large, in our pursuit. Meanwhile, from the two arrested suspects, we cannot yet say the network. However, one of the suspects is a repeat offender in a different case," he said.
The perpetrator sold the stolen goods to the Kampung Bahari area for Rp. 1.5 million. Then the sales proceeds were divided into 3 by the perpetrator.
"It was sold for Rp. 1.5 million divided. Suspect W got 400, the rest were executors who are still fugitives and we are still chasing them," he said.
Meanwhile, from the statements of the two suspects, the results of the theft were used to buy drugs.
"(Stolen motorcycles) are sold randomly, whoever wants to buy it, yes, he sells it. There is no order for the motorcycle," he added.
From the initial statement to the police, the suspect admitted that the money from the crime was for daily food expenses.
However, after being interrogated, the suspect admitted that the money from the sale of stolen motorcycles was used for a drug party of methamphetamine in Bahari Village.
"The perpetrator admitted to making daily necessities, it turned out to buy drugs. It's true (stealing to buy drugs), it's become a routine," he said.
The police appealed to residents of Pademangan to install double locks when parking their vehicles in their neighborhood.
"We know that it is difficult to enter the parking lot for motor vehicles, enter the house because of the density of the population. We from the Police hope and appeal to the public to give additional keys, in addition to the steering wheel. Maybe it's safer," concluded Ipda Zaenal.
