Purbaya Reveals He Will Rotate 50 Tax Officers This Week
JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa plans to rotate a number of employees of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance on Friday this week.
Meanwhile, the total number of employees who will be transferred currently amounts to around 50 people, or less than the initial plan which was said to have reached 70 employees.
However, Purbaya opened the possibility of additional rotations in the next phase.
"Maybe the number that entered 50 now, 50 before. Later, there will be a follow-up below it," he told the media, Wednesday, February 4.
On the other hand, he emphasized that he would wait for the results of the legal process related to the hand-in-hand operation (OTT) that had been carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Banjarmasin Tax Service Office (KPP) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC).
According to him, if there are tax and customs officers who are proven to have committed violations, then their handling must follow the applicable legal mechanisms.
"Let's see what the results of OTT are, if people in taxes and customs feel wrong, they must be prosecuted legally in accordance with the non-non regulations that are there. But this, I will not let my subordinates go alone like that," he explained.
Regarding sanctions for officials of the Ministry of Finance who are involved, Purbaya said that the officials can be temporarily disabled and if the error has been proven legally, then dismissal can be carried out.
However, he emphasized that he could not dismiss unilaterally because he had to comply with the applicable provisions.
"Later we will see, it seems that if it is proven wrong it can be dismissed," he said.
As a first step, he said he chose the rotation option for employees who were suspected of committing violations and they could be transferred to positions that did not have strategic influence.
"I can't fire, can I? Well, later we will non-job-kan, for example, in a central place that doesn't do anything if it's involved," he said.
