Purbaya is waiting for the results of the KPK OTT, the involved officials will be dealt with according to the rules

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa spoke out regarding the hand-in-hand operation (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Banjarmasin Tax Service Office (KPP) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC).

Purbaya stated that his party would wait for the legal process from the OTT and if there were tax and customs officers who were proven to have committed violations, they must be processed in accordance with applicable laws.

"Let's see what the results of OTT are, if people in taxes and customs feel wrong, they must be prosecuted legally in accordance with the non-non regulations that are there. But this, I will not let my subordinates go alone," he told the media, Wednesday, February 4.

However, he emphasized that he would not let his subordinates face legal proceedings alone and the Ministry of Finance would provide legal assistance, but without intervening in the legal process.

"There will be legal assistance from the Ministry of Finance. But not in the form of legal intervention. It's just that we'll wait until the process is complete," he explained.

When asked about who was arrested in the OTT, Purbaya admitted that he did not know for sure.

He said that he attended the meeting throughout the day and only heard information that several people had been secured.

"I don't know, you know better I'm in the closet all day. There are three here, there are eight in the lampung, he said," he explained.

Responding to a question about whether this incident was a blow to the tax and customs institutions, Purbaya assessed that on the contrary, OTT was an opportunity to make improvements internally in both institutions.

He added that previously the Directorate General of Customs and Excise had made improvements and a number of indications of violations had indeed been detected.

Regarding the possibility of sanctions for officials at the regional office level if they are proven to be involved, Purbaya said that his party would wait for the results of the investigation and if found guilty, the official could be temporarily disabled.

He emphasized that if the error is proven legally, then the dismissal can be carried out, but for the time being it will be deactivated.
