Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Dialogue to Encourage Indonesia-China Clean Energy Partnership that is Innovative and Based on Innovation

JAKARTA - The Foreign Policy Strategy Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BSKLN Kemlu) RI in collaboration with the Indonesian think tank Synergy Policies and ViriyaENB held the Indonesia-China Track 1.5 Dialogue entitled "Shaping a Joint Foreign Policy Approach toward a Transformational Model for Clean Energy Partnership."

The dialogue held on January 27-28, 2026 is a continuation of the two previous National Dialogues (August and September 2025) which aim to strengthen the consolidation of Indonesian and People's Republic of China (PRC) stakeholders in formulating approaches and modalities for the two countries' clean energy partnership.

As a 1.5 track forum, the Dialogue was attended by a number of Indonesian and RRT stakeholders from government elements, ministries and agencies (track 1), and business elements, academics, and research and think tank institutions (track 2)

The Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' BSKLN, Muhammad Takdir, emphasized the concept of Dynamic Resilience as the foundation of the Indonesian-RRT clean energy partnership, quoted from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement, Wednesday (4/2).

Through strong national resilience, sustainable cooperation is Indonesia's strategic step in navigating global geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics.

Departing from this thinking, the dialogue emphasized the importance of clean energy partnerships that go beyond trade and investment. An equal partnership needs to prioritize the aspects of research and innovation, technology transfer, and active community involvement even at the local level.

"The Indonesian-RRT transformative partnership model advances foreign policy, industrial cooperation, innovation, and community engagement," explained Economic Diplomacy Expert Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zelda Wulan Kartika.

This model is expected to strengthen the real impact of the Indonesia-RRT clean energy partnership.

In this dialogue, Indonesia presents representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Bappenas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DEN, BRIN, PLN, KADIN, UGM, and representatives from the private sector.

Meanwhile, from the RRT side, representatives from the RRT Embassy in Jakarta, China New Energy International Alliance (CNEIA), WRI China, as well as representatives of research institutions, think tanks and other related partners attended.

The two-day dialogue was closed with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between Synergy Policies and CNEIA as a commitment to strengthen cooperation in the formulation of policy recommendations, research, and capacity development.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this improved relationship is expected to underlie Indonesia's clean energy cooperation with strategic partners, including the PRC, on an ongoing basis.
