Cucun Demands that the Case of a Primary School Student in NTT be Opened, the DPR Urges Commission X to Call Dikdasmen

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal considers the news that a primary school child in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) who ended his life as a "heavy blow" and warns that similar cases could happen again if the country is slow to respond.

He asked that the incident not be simplified as if it were only about pencils, because it is likely that other factors - from economic pressure to bullying - must be clearly opened.

"It is still in our country only because of a small problem... we are very concerned," Cucun said Wednesday, February 4.

He assessed that the improvement of teacher-student relations needed to be emphasized in the National Education System Law, so that schools were really sensitive to reading signs of problems in children.

This PKB politician said this phenomenon is not as simple as stationery.

"It could be because of pencil problems, because of bullying and all sorts," he said.

Therefore, he asked Commission X of the DPR to immediately hear the facts of the matter and check whether the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education knew about the case.

He emphasized that this case should not be treated as a single incident.

"This is only one case... it could happen several times," he said.

The DPR, he continued, encouraged the steps of anticipation and prevention from the ministry so that similar incidents do not recur.

When asked whether it needed to be deepened by law enforcement, Cucun said it was "good" so that the issue was clear.

He emphasized the importance of deepening to ensure that the public is not directed at a narrow narrative, while the root of the problem can be different.
