Misbakhun: DPR has not received the name of the candidate for the Chairman of the OJK from the Government
Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mukhamad Misbakhun, stated that until now the DPR has not received the names of candidates for Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) from the government.
He emphasized that the determination of the successor to Mahendra Siregar, who resigned from the position of Chairman of the OJK Board on January 30, 2026, was entirely the authority of the government through the selection committee (pansel) mechanism.
"The area of government authority, executive, is the area of government authority," he told the media, Wednesday, February 4.
Misbakhun added, so the DPR is still waiting for the government to submit the list of names of candidates for the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners to be processed in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Currently, the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the OJK are temporarily carried out by the Head of the Executive Supervisor of the Behavior of Financial Services, Education, and Consumer Protection Actors, Friderica Widyasari Dewi.
Misbakhun emphasized that the DPR was ready to immediately conduct a fit and proper test once President Prabowo Subianto sent an official letter containing the name of the candidate for Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners to the DPR.
"What the DPR is waiting for is, if the letter from the government has been received, namely the letter from the President has been received, then we will immediately carry out what is mandated by law, namely conducting fit and proper and making decisions," he said.
He ensured that the process could be carried out in a short time, especially considering the current financial market conditions which require certainty, amid pressure on the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the end of last month.
According to Misbakhun, the DPR is open and flexible in responding to government needs, especially in urgent situations.
"The DPR is very flexible to the needs of the executive power. Moreover, there is an urgency, there is an emergency situation like this, not an emergency, there is an urgent situation like this. I revise it is not an emergency, an urgent situation. Then the DPR can also work very quickly and provide a quick response as a need for the community," he said.
