Gaikindo Targets 850 Thousand Car Sales This Year
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) targets a car sales figure of 850 thousand units during 2026, which means a slight increase from the previous year which reached 833,692 units.
This was stated by Gaikindo's General Secretary Kukuh Kumara, and the target has indeed been agreed upon.
"Basically, we agreed yesterday, this year we set a target of 850 thousand units," said Kukuh Kumara in a discussion event held by the Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association (AEML) in Jakarta, some time ago.
However, he said that the target could still change according to the development of the automotive market in the country. For example, such as new policies.
"If there are new developments, new policies, maybe we will see again," he added.
He explained that the long Eid al-Fitr holiday on the one hand brought momentum to increase sales, but on the other hand it caused a reduction in working days to produce vehicles.
In addition, the presence of various automotive exhibitions as well as the presence of new brands and vehicle models are expected to encourage an increase in sales.
"We hope that after that we should be able to gas a little bit. Because it's long, from March to the end of the year," he said.
