Xiaomi SU7 Battery Health Proven to Still Be 94.5 Percent After Driving 265 Thousand Km in 18 Months

JAKARTA - The durability of electric vehicles has once again come under the spotlight after a Xiaomi SU7 owner reported that his car's battery condition was still at 94.5 percent. In fact, the car has traveled 265 thousand kilometers in 18 months.

The vehicle owner named Feng admitted to being surprised by the results of the examination. In fact, he thought that his battery health would only be at 90 percent.

"Xiaomi staff told me the results, and I was really surprised. I thought the highest figure was only 90 percent. Seeing the figure of 94.5 percent is really surprising," said Feng, as reported by Carnewschina, Wednesday, February 4.

The data comes from the rear-wheel drive variant of the SU7 Pro. The car is used to the extreme with an average mileage of around 600 kilometers per day, almost equivalent to the New York-Boston round trip.

With a battery capacity of 94.3 kWh, the power pack is estimated to have gone through about 506 full charging cycles, based on an average energy consumption of 18 kWh per 100 kilometers. In practice, the number of partial cycles is likely to be much higher.

Because, most electric vehicle users charge in the range of 20-80 percent. This achievement is interesting when viewed from industry standards.

The majority of electric car manufacturers provide a battery warranty for eight years or 150,000 kilometers, with an acceptable degradation limit in the range of 20-30 percent. Even Tesla sets a minimum capacity threshold of 70 percent for the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y rear-wheel drive in the eight-year warranty period or 160,000 kilometers.

Not only the battery, the condition of other components of Feng's car is also reported to be in good condition. The depth of the tire tread is recorded at 8 mm, equivalent to the specifications of a new tire.

Then on the brake pads it has never been replaced. The coolant is also said to be pure without water content, with a freezing point of minus 38 degrees Celsius.

The information was first shared by the Jackson's Sunset Drive account through a Mandarin-language video that went viral on Weibo and Bilibili. The video even caught the attention of Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, who re-shared it.

Feng even targets more extreme achievements. He aspires to be the first person to drive the SU7 up to 600 thousand kilometers in three years.

"I have calculated the operating costs. Compared to conventional vehicles, I have saved more than 100 thousand yuan just for fuel costs," said Feng.

This moment comes to coincide with the end of production of the first generation of the SU7. The latest version is scheduled to launch in April 2026. For old owners who are worried about resale value, this data gives an idea that the performance of the vehicle has the potential to remain maintained far beyond the standard warranty period.

The latest version that will be launched is also equipped with batteries supplied by the world's largest battery manufacturers, CATL and BYD.
