Protested by Prabowo, Bogor City Directly Tap Clean Gas - Clean Advertising
BOGOR - Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim responded directly to President Prabowo Subianto's criticism regarding the unsightly billboards, billboards, and banners that were considered to interfere with the aesthetics of Bogor City. The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) admitted that it had begun to enforce discipline and would accelerate the reduction of billboards at a number of strategic points.
Previously, President Prabowo highlighted the importance of shaping the face of the city in the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Government at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor Regency, Monday. In a forum attended by regional heads from across Indonesia, Prabowo assessed that excessive banners and billboards make cities lose their beauty.
He specifically mentioned Bogor City as a historic city that should be maintained for its cleanliness and aesthetics. According to him, Bogor has always been known as a beautiful and well-organized city.
"Bogor was the most beautiful city. There are too many banners, billboards, advertisements, please regulate it," he said.
Responding to the direction, Dedie said the Bogor City Government had previously taken steps to arrange billboards, especially on the protocol route and one-way system (SSA) area which is the main face of the city.
"So far, the Bogor City Government has cut down more than 50 billboards and videotrons on the protocol and SSA routes," said Dedie, Tuesday, February 3.
He added that the discipline would continue by evaluating the still valid advertising permits. The city government plans to accelerate the termination of the contract for the extension of permits that have already been issued in 2024 so that the number of billboards can be suppressed.
"In the future, we will accelerate the termination of contracts from the extension of permits that have already been issued in 2024," he said.
In addition to billboards, the President also highlighted the problem of electricity cables that are messy and encouraged the region to launch the Indonesia ASRI Campaign (Safe, Healthy, Resik, and Beautiful). Dedie ensures that the Bogor City Government will follow up on this direction as part of efforts to improve urban planning while increasing citizen comfort and tourist appeal.
