Rosan said Perminas is trying to optimize the potential of rare land in Indonesia.

JAKARTA - CEO of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) Rosan Roeslani said the establishment of the National Mineral Company (Perminas) is one of the government's efforts to optimize Indonesia's rare earth potential.

"This perminas is for rare earths or rare earths that we have the potential for, but it has not been optimized, it is still far from being optimized," said Rosan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 3.

According to him, now rare earth metals are one of the commodities and needs that the world is interested in, because they have high added value, one of which is as a major component of electric vehicle technology, electronics, to the health industry and renewable energy.

"Rare land, if you look at it now, is a very high world need, and we have very high potential and reserves as well," said Rosan.

For this reason, he continued, Danantara will also cooperate and communicate with relevant ministries/institutions regarding the progress of Perminas later.

"We are asked to prepare and we are also working with other ministries," said Rosan, who is also the Minister of Investment and Industrialization/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

Previously, the Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the formation of the new state-owned enterprise Perminas to manage critical minerals was in line with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto.

"It is precisely from the President (the instruction to form Perminas), which is expected to manage our minerals, especially strategic minerals. Then Danantara was asked to form an entity," he said.

Prasetyo also ensured that the government had a list of mines that would be included in Perminas, in addition to the Martabe gold mine in North Sumatra, which has been managed by PT Agincourt Resources. However, he was reluctant to elaborate further.

On the other hand, COO Danantara Indonesia Dony Oskaria said the Martabe gold mine would be transferred to Perminas.

Dony said Perminas is different from MIND ID.

The government transferred the management of Agincourt to Perminas so that its business would be under Danantara.

Later, he said Perminas would operate directly under Danantara.
