Sick Reason, Richard Lee Did Not Attend PN Jaksel Regarding the Beauty Treatment Case

JAKARTA - The suspect in the alleged consumer protection case related to beauty products and treatments, dr. Richard Lee (DRL) did not come to the stage of settlement at the South Jakarta District Court because of illness.

"In the legislation, the pre-trial is enough to be represented so that the principal does not need to be present. Currently, Dr. Richard is still ill," said Dr. Richard Lee's lawyer, Jefry Simatupang to reporters at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday.

Jefry said he could not detail the illness suffered by the client because it was the authority of the police.

Currently, his party is still completing the report requested by the judge and needed by the Metro Jaya Police.

Then, he stated that his party was still conducting a review so that a pretrial hearing had not yet been held.

"We haven't started the trial yet. Later after the trial we will let you know what the results of the trial will be," he said.

The suspect in the case of alleged consumer protection violations related to beauty products and treatments, dr. Richard Lee (DRL) has filed a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

Richard Lee was named a suspect on December 15, 2025 in connection with the alleged violation of consumer protection related to beauty products and "treatment".

In the police report which has been registered with the number LPB Number 7317/XII/2024/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, Richard Lee is suspected of violating a number of articles.

First, Article 435 jo. Article 138 paragraph (2) of Law (UU) Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 5 billion.

Then, Article 62 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) and Article 9 paragraph (1) of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection with a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp. 2 billion.

He has also been examined as a suspect on Wednesday (7/1), but his examination was stopped because Richard Lee's condition was not in good health. Meanwhile, the Polda Metro Jaya has also scheduled a follow-up examination on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
