BNN Turns Cannabis Fields in Gayo Lues Aceh into Coffee Fields
JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has converted a cannabis plantation into a coffee plantation in Gayo Lues, Aceh, in the Alternative Development Master Plan (RBAP) program in 2025.
In a working meeting of Commission III of the DPR with the BNN, the Head of the BNN, Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto, said that the program succeeded in inviting the public to plant coffee plants on former marijuana fields.
"We provide understanding and training so that eventually the local community will want to plant coffee on the former cannabis land," he said, Tuesday, February 3.
The RPAP program, he said, was carried out in 11 areas prone to prohibited plants and trained 330 people to synergize in eradicating narcotics.
"The implementation of the Grand Design Alternative Development or GDAD in 11 areas prone to prohibited plants by training 330 people," he said.
In addition, he explained that the program provides income for the surrounding community economically.
"Then, (the program) can actually increase the regional income from the sale of coffee," he said.
To note, the BNN dismantled 773 cases of drug trafficking in Indonesia during 2025 and also arrested 1,214 people.
"The achievement in the field of eradication, namely the first we have uncovered 773 cases of narcotics and psychotropic crimes," he said, quoted by ANTARA.
BNN, he continued, revealed 63 organized networks with details of 56 national syndicate networks and seven international syndicate networks.
"It uncovers 63 organized circulation networks consisting of 56 national narcotics syndicate networks and seven international narcotics networks," he said.
