Purbaya Claims Tax Revenue in January 2026 Grows 30 Percent

JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the performance of tax revenue in January 2026 showed double-digit growth.

He explained that the tax revenue was recorded to have increased by 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

"January tax (2026) the new figure we just received, January tax net grew 30 percent compared to last year's January," he told the media, Tuesday, February 3.

For information, for comparison, the realization of tax revenue in January 2025 only reached Rp88.89 trillion with this growth, then the tax revenue in January 2026 is estimated to reach Rp115.56 trillion.

According to Purbaya, the surge in tax revenue at the beginning of the year is a positive signal that national economic activity is beginning to improve.

"So it's good, the economy is better," he said.

For information, the government has set a tax revenue target for 2026 of IDR 2,357.7 trillion or an increase of around 23 percent compared to the realization of tax revenue in 2025 which was recorded at IDR 1,917.6 trillion.
