The Regent of Situbondo Tells the DPR that his Region is Affected by a Disaster but is Missing from the Spotlight
Situbondo - Situbondo Regent Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo told Commission XI of the DPR, the Situbondo Regency area, East Java, was experiencing the impact of a flood disaster but escaped the public spotlight.
According to him, the impact caused by the Situbondo flood is the same as that experienced by the people of Aceh, Sumatra. He also hopes that there will be a similar helping hand for his people in Situbondo.
"In fact, the impact and crying are the same," said Yusuf, Tuesday, February 3.
He said the flood that occurred this time was a flood of a fairly large scale in Situbondo, because it occurred in a number of sub-districts. According to him, so far about 8,000 people have been affected by the flood.
Apart from the damaged residential areas, according to him, a number of rice fields, mosques, and pesantren areas were also affected by the flood.
For this reason, he asked Commission XI of the DPR RI as the commission dealing with financial affairs to help restore the condition of the Regional Transfer budget (TKD) to its original condition. Because the central government issued a policy to cut the TKD for the 2026 budget.
He also invited the central government to return the TKD in any form, whether it is repairing residents' houses or intact buildings.
"We are willing. There is no problem for us. Whether the money is returned or all of these damaged things are returned in the form of a complete building, we also have no problem," he said.
According to him, this is important so that public facilities can return to normal after the flood, so that the economic condition of Situbondo can recover. He also believes that the current economic growth of Situbondo Regency will decline because economic activity is not moving, although previously the economic growth could reach 6.16 percent.
"So please this is our main aspiration because if the money is returned then we will all use it for improvement," he said as quoted by ANTARA.
