West Sumatra Provincial Government Kerjar Target Huntara Disaster Victims Completed Before Ramadan 2026

JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Provincial Government targets all survivors of flash floods and landslides in a number of affected areas to have occupied temporary housing (huntara) before the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

"We hope and strive that all survivors of flash floods have occupied the huntara before Ramadan 1447 Hijriah," said Regional Secretary of West Sumatra Province Arry Yuswandi in Padang City, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

Arry said that currently the local government together with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Danantara, as well as the TNI and Polri are continuing to rush the construction of huntara in Agam Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, and several other points.

"Some of them can be occupied by the community, and some are still in the process, which we hope will be completed before Ramadan," he said.

Regarding the huntara in Jorong Salareh Aia, Palembayan District, which was flooded after being inhabited, Arry asked that it be immediately handled by the local government so as not to cause concern for the community.

"We ask that there be anticipation from the local government so that the huntara that is occupied by the community is no longer flooded," he said.

Separately, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi said the local provincial government would prioritize disaster-affected areas as the main location for the implementation of the 1447 Hijriah Ramadan safari.

"This year's Ramadhan Safari is directed to disaster-affected areas so that we can see and feel firsthand the extent of the recovery in various affected areas," said the West Sumatra Governor.

In addition to this information, the West Sumatra Provincial Government needs at least Rp. 21.44 trillion in the budget to meet the various post-disaster needs that occurred in 16 districts and cities by the end of November 2025.

The budget reflects the needs that must be met gradually, and planned so that recovery can run well and be targeted. In terms of authority, post-disaster needs are divided into three levels.
