Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga ensures that the negotiations on the RI-US tariff are completed, entering the ratification phase.
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the tariff negotiation process between Indonesia and the United States had been completed and was now entering the final stage in the form of ratification of the joint agreement document.
Airlangga explained that the preparation of legal aspects or legal drafting of the agreement had reached about 90 percent.
He added that after this stage is completed, the results of the agreement will be reported by each government to the legislative body before being officially announced.
"All negotiations have been completed, the legal drafting is 90 percent, we are just waiting for the schedule. Later, the executive order for America will be delivered to Congress, for Indonesia we will also deliver it to the DPR," he told the media, Tuesday, February 3.
However, Airlangga was not ready to reveal in detail the substance of the agreement reached by the two countries.
He emphasized that the announcement of the details of the agreement was the direct authority of the heads of state.
Airlangga added that the final results of the agreement would be announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto and President of the United States Donald Trump, with the implementation time which has not yet been determined.
Currently, all Indonesian export products to the United States are subject to a tariff of 19 percent, although it is still quite high, the tariff is lower than the initial plan of 32 percent announced by President Trump when setting the tariff policy for trading partners in April 2025.
During the negotiation process, the United States government also made a number of requests, including that Indonesia consider tariff exemptions for all export products from US companies.
In addition, the US requested an exemption from the provision on the level of domestic components (TKDN) for its products.
