JAKARTA - Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) Basuki Hadimuljono said the progress of the IKN National Mosque construction reached approximately 98.4 percent and was projected to be used for worship activities in Ramadan this year.
"The progress of construction is around 98.4 percent, and there are still some interior details that must be completed," said Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono when asked about the construction of worship facilities in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
He explained that the mosque, which is located in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, was built on land with an area of 32,125 square meters and a building area of 61,596 square meters. The mosque can accommodate more than 60,000 worshipers and is equipped with a retention pond.
The IKN State Mosque, he said, combines modern and spiritual elements with a dome shape resembling a turban and a 99-meter-high tower that represents Asmaul Husna.
"The IKN State Mosque is projected to be used in Ramadan this year so that the Tarawih prayer activities in Ramadan this year can be carried out at the IKN State Mosque," he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar wanted the implementation of Eid al-Fitr prayers this year to be carried out at the IKN State Mosque.
"Therefore, the IKN National Mosque is projected to be ready for use for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr prayers," he said.
The IKN State Mosque, he said, is equipped with a digital library, meeting rooms, and commercial areas for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), so that the mosque can also become a center of civilization.
