DPR Says BNN Budget is Abnormal with MBG Funds, Suggests Adding Up to Rp5 Trillion

Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Abdullah, highlighted the budget of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) which was only around Rp. 2.9 trillion if the addition of Rp. 1.39 trillion was approved. According to him, the BNN budget is anomalous with the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program fund worth Rp. 335 trillion.

In fact, Abdullah assessed that both programs were related to the future of the nation's children. He said that BNN did not have fangs in carrying out its program, especially in eradicating drugs among young people.

"First of all, the clear point in the opening of the Basic Law, paragraph 4, states that the purpose of the state is to educate the nation's life, especially with what we Mr. President Prabowo with his flagship program MBG. MBG with a budget of Rp. 350 trillion, but this is an anomaly with the condition of the BNN budget which is only this," said Abdullah at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3.

"So on one side the president wants this country to be smart, on the other side BNN doesn't have fangs, doesn't have weapons, tools, power, what is this?" he continued.

The PKB legislator also highlighted the viral misuse of pink whip or Nitrous Oxide (N2O) gas which is often used as a supporting tool in the culinary world, namely making whipped cream that is soft. However, pink whip is actually misused to get drunk.

"In fact, in our country, especially yesterday's viral pink whip tube, entomidate, entamin are new types that the public does not know and do not understand, even entomide was only included in the Narcotics Law last November," said Abdullah.

"So I asked everywhere to BNNP, there was no urine check of entomidate, it was indeed an analysis that wanted to really enlighten the life of the nation or just a opening paragraph in the Constitution, the concept is like that," he added.

Therefore, Abdullah assessed that it was very little when BNN only asked for a budget of Rp. 2-3 trillion. He suggested that the BNN budget be increased to Rp. 5 trillion.

"I think Rp2, Rp3 trillion is not enough, Rp5 trillion so that these gentlemen really have the goal of improving the lives of the nation and eradicating drugs," he said.

"While with the lifestyle of young people now, the lifestyle has shifted, usually in night clubs, now in padel, running. That's a positive thing actually, but beyond that, the types of drugs that come in are also more creative and also more varied," he added.

"Moreover, the pink whip turns out that we see the tube has halal writing. So there is a funny story, a friend asked his son, what is this? 'this is for a practicum to make a cake' even though it was just a revelation that the pink whip was indeed for making cakes, for gas to laugh but it just went viral now. When you need a budget or whatever, the handle is clear, you have to educate the nation's life," said Abdullah.
