Police Investigate Woman Who Drowned After Her House Toilet Was Swept Away by the Cijagra River Current
Soreang Police in Bandung are investigating a case of a woman who is suspected of being swept away into the Cijagra River after her toilet room collapsed due to the flow of water in Cilame Village, Kutawaringin District, Bandung Regency.
Soreang Police Chief Kompol Oeng Hoeruman said the police conducted an initial investigation to determine the chronology of the incident where the floor of the toilet room of the victim's house on the banks of the Cijagra River was broken.
"We are investigating this incident to determine the cause of the toilet of the house that allegedly made the victim drown," he said in Bandung, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
He explained, after receiving a report from residents, the police together with a joint team immediately carried out a search for the victim named Enok (43) around the scene of the incident.
"We have deployed personnel from the Soreang Police who are assisted by Muspika elements, BPBD, Basarnas, and the Fire Department to carry out the search," he said.
The joint team combed the Cijagra River with a search radius of about one kilometer from the starting point of the incident.
However, the search was temporarily halted at night for evaluation and will resume in the morning.
"The main obstacle in the search process is the fairly large river discharge accompanied by strong currents," he said.
Based on initial information collected by officers, the bathroom and kitchen of the victim's house standing on the river suddenly collapsed and allegedly dragged the victim to the Cijagra River.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the joint team was still continuing the search by combing the location of the incident and along the Cijagra River.
